What's included in a standard home inspection?

A standard home inspection includes a visual assessment along with light probing as well as functional testing of most home systems, including:

• Exterior: wall cladding, windows, roofing, decks and porches, grading and vegetation, driveway
• Structural Components: foundation, piers, wood components visible from unfinished spaces
• Interior Living Spaces: visual inspection of floors/walls/ceilings/trim, functional testing of cabinetry/doors/windows
• Heating/Cooling: heating and cooling equipment check plus, functionality testing in all rooms
• Plumbing: supply and waste lines as visible in unfinished areas, functional testing of fixtures, caulking, leaks
• Electrical: all main and sub panels grounding and overcurrent protection, receptacles, switches
• Insulation and Ventilation: bathroom and kitchen ventilation, condition of visible insulation
• Appliances: any built-in stovetop, oven, dishwasher, garbage disposal, trash compactor
