Building/Civil Construction stage inspection:

In Australia, building a house involves several key inspection stages to ensure the construction meets all safety, health, and quality standards. Here are the main stages typically involved:

  1. Pre-Slab/Footing Inspections, Site Prep & Foundations inspections: Before pouring the slab, inspectors check the site preparation, formwork, steel reinforcements, and plumbing to ensure everything is set up correctly.

  2. Slab Stage Inspection: After the placement of formwork and reinforcement for the slab, but before the concrete is poured, inspectors ensure the foundation is properly prepared.

  3. Frame Stage, walls, and roof framing/truss Inspections: Once the frame is up, inspectors focus on the structural integrity, checking the correct installation of studs, beams, trusses, and bracing. Also includes Brickwork & Roof Covering inspection once it's done.

  4. Lock-Up/Pre-Plaster Inspection: At this stage, windows, doors, and roofing are in place, but interior finishes haven’t started. Inspectors check insulation, electrical wiring points, and plumbing rough-ins.

  5. Internal lining, Second Fix Carpentry, Waterproofing Inspection: Before finishing touches like painting and tiling, inspectors ensure that waterproofing in wet areas like bathrooms and kitchens is correctly installed. Inspections of all cabinets, internal linings, joineries, etc.

  6. Final/Handover Inspection, practical completion inspection: This comprehensive check ensures all elements, from cosmetic finishes to functionality, are up to standard before the house is handed over to the owner.

These inspections help catch any issues early, ensuring the house is built to the highest standards.
