Charlie Hovey is the Founder of 904Pro Inspections and a former custom home builder with more than 40 years of experience in the construction and home inspection industries. Originally from Northern Virginia, Charlie has built his career around a hands-on understanding of how homes are constructed, how building systems work, and what can go wrong when they are not properly built or maintained.
Over the course of his career, Charlie has owned and operated multiple construction-related businesses, including a roofing company, and has personally trained numerous home inspectors. This extensive experience gives him a unique perspective during inspections—combining the knowledge of a builder and contractor with the experience of a seasoned professional inspector.
Charlie is committed to continuing education and staying current with changes in construction practices, inspection standards, and technology. He continually incorporates new tools and technology into the inspection process to provide clients with thorough, detailed, and easy-to-understand reports that help them make informed decisions.
His reputation has been built largely through referrals and repeat clients who value his knowledge, honesty, attention to detail, and commitment to doing the job right. Charlie believes a quality inspection is about more than simply identifying defects—it is about educating clients and giving them a clear understanding of the property they are considering.
Charlie has also been involved in the development of Florida’s home inspection industry. In the early 2000s, he petitioned the Florida Legislature to establish licensing requirements for home inspectors. Florida subsequently passed legislation in 2007 establishing home inspector licensing, with the licensing requirements taking effect in July 2010.
Today, Charlie continues to personally oversee 904Pro Inspections with the same commitment to thorough inspections, professional service, and putting the client first.
