After his family lost their home in the 2018 Woolsey fire and were unknowingly grossly underinsured. Keegan became obsessed with understanding why wildfire disasters continue to happen, and what are the potential solutions to them. After researching every aspect, including the relationship between wildfire and ecology, how they are caused, how they are response to and how to prevent them, Keegan landed at Jack Cohen’s NFPA Structure Ignition class. It was here where was struck by the realization that we must learn to live with wildfire, instead of waging war against it. Inspired by Dr. Cohen’s research and methodology, he created The Ignition Zone Certification. Keegan’s creative and entrepreneurial backgrounds, uniquely mixed with his passion for community organizing and environmentalism, will help lead Ignition Zone’s success, taking a modern approach to solving a century old “problem.
